A cryptic phone call. A gruesome discovery. A case that challenges even Hercule Poirot’s brilliance.

When Poirot and Captain Hastings receive an urgent call from an Italian nobleman, Count Foscatini, they rush to his London apartment—only to find him brutally murdered. The room is in disarray, the table is set for three, and the mysterious dinner guests have vanished without a trace

I love how the story immediately drew me in with its mysterious atmosphere and quick pacing. I found myself trying to piece together the clues alongside Hercule Poirot, and I have to admit, my own guesses kept changing as the story unfolded.

Personally, I think this short story perfectly captures Christie’s talent for weaving a tight, intriguing plot in just a few pages. I enjoyed the mix of tension and subtle humor, and my respect for Poirot’s sharp mind grew even more. For me, it’s a brilliant example of why Agatha Christie’s mysteries never get old.
